JUNE
13, 2005 --
Rocco
Landesman appeared in his first game, this season, pitching
for "The Producers." Mr. Landesman is president
of Jujamcyn Theaters, producer of "The
Producers." Twenty years ago, this remarkable Broadway personality/softball
pitcher was on the faculty of the Yale Drama School, and then became a
producer, getting Roger Miller to write the
Tony-award winning, long-running "Big River, based on "The Adventures
of Huckleberry Finn."
Mr. Landesman resumed his winning ways on the softball mound, last
Thursday. How much pride does he take in his softhball team? See the sign
in front of the St.. James Theater -- home to "The Producers," listing
the team's Broaodway Show league championships.
LPR spotted Michael Mulheren last Thursday, watching BSL games. Last season,
Mr. Mulheren rooted for "The
Boy From Oz, as featured cast member (in two roles -- Peter Allen's father
and his agent. This season he is one of the stars in La Cage Aux Folles, playing
a conservative father). The show does not have a team in the league. And LPR
clicksters have only two weeks to catch this terrific actor in this musical
-- it ends its run June 26.
