Here a Blog, There a Blog
Everywhere a Blog, Blog

JULY 22, 2008 --

Thank you LPR clicksters. There are a lot of blogs out there and LPR appreciates your visits.

Many blogs are connected with media organizations.  LPR stands all by itself.

While LPR is very concerned about credit card interest, it seems that a New Yorker cover that apparently lampooned conservatives for opposing Barack Obama drew a lot of attention, including criticism of the magazine for using the illustration -- showing Sen. Obama wearing a turban and Mrs. Obama dressed as a guerrilla fighter complete with weapon.

Maureen Dowd, in The New York Times wondered if the severe response indicated that the U.S. would be humorless during an Obama administration, causing the people to be depressed.

LPR is reminded of a comment  Mark Twain  put in his Notebook about the time he wrote "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court":   "Irreverence is the champion of liberty and its only sure defense."

Seems to LPR that if irreverence will be frowned on during a Barack administration, the actual cost will be to our liberty.

As for possible depression caused by a humorless Obama administration, LPR is depressed enough, at present, what with fuel costs, credit card interest costs, and concern about a future of impoverishment.
