It really is GOTCHAM CITY

AUGUST 2, 2007 --

LPR spotted this sign on the south side of 13th Street, between Broadway and 4th Avenue.

Question: Why doesn't the sign simply say: No Parking Anytime?

LPR's suggested reply: People would not be lulled into $115 parking tickets if there
was just a No Parking sign at this location.

With these two signs, people might take a hurried look and misread the "No Standing" sign to permit standing from
7 pm to 7 am.

Borrowing from a famous declaration of
President Reagan, LPR says: "Tear down this sign, Mayor Bloomberg."

Are people getting parking tickets at this 13th Street location? They sure are. LPR spotted this sign and several ticketed cars, the night before taking this
photo, last week.

One couple walked up to LPR, that night, looking bewildered, with the the gentleman holding a parking summons in his hand. He asked LPR about the ticket and LPR showed him the "No Standing" sign that LPR spotted not long before.

Tear Down This Sign

LPR asked about the fine and was told it was $115. The couple indicated they thought ticket and fine were unfair. LPR does not disagree.
