Will "Critics" of "In God We Trust" accept "In Government We Trust"?

October 19, 2015 --

The New York Times, October 4 (page A18) ran an article with this headline: "Police Agencies Defy Critics/ And Show 'In God We Trust'" Those were the words. LPR senses this as the message: "How dare police departments defy critics of the phrase "In God We Trust."

Annie Laurie Gaylor, co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, "has demanded that law enforcement officials stop exhibiting the motto," the Times reported. Ms Gaylor was also reported to be among critics who agree, nevertheless, that courts will not soon ban the phrase as unconstitutional. LPR has a hunch that Ms. Gaylor is hoping -- praying ?-- that predictions of continued court approval of official use of the motto will prove inaccurate.

Indeed, LPR also has a hunch which five justices on the United States Supreme Court might support banning "In God We Trust." (If Ms. Gaylor prays banning "in God We Trust, " to whom does she pray: Government? Climate change??)
