LPR Doubts Douthat Conservative

March 19, 2016 --

Ross Douthat is another of the “conservative” columnists at The New York Times who is not really conservative. LPR has concluded that a New York Times columnist is, by virtue of his employment, a member of The Establishment. Presently, The Establishment has one political aim, above all: crush the Trump Uprising. As faithful member of The Establishment, Douthat offered his own down- with -Trump column, March 13.

For Douthat, Trump is “an authoritarian,” “transparently unfit for office,” “a demagogue,” ”loud and rich and famous,” yet “horribly compelling and, yes, sometimes even right.” Douthat concluded his jeremiad contra Trump with the hope that the Republican Party’s rules will prevent Trump from gaining the party’s presidential nomination.

Douthat lost LPR by asserting, without elaboration, that Trump is “an authoritarian.”

LPR believes the term better informs the candidacy of Hillary Clinton or Sen. B. Sanders, both of whom will, as president, give the American people government with a heavy hand.

And with a President Clinton or a President Sanders comes a compliant media that denounces political dissent as “anti-government extremism.”

LPR would note that Douthat reportedly made reference to a film, a reference understood as envisioning a literal way to terminate Trump’s candidacy.

LPR understands that the reference was soon deleted.
