OCTOBER 3, 2006 --

The Almighty must really like atheists: they don't complain to Him, or about Him, and they don't make promises to Him that they don't keep.

While Democrats and Republicans are getting energized by their political warfare, it would be great if the voters got turned off by accusatory politics.

The first president of the American League was Ban Johnson. With his next directive for city residents, the mayor (who could be a formidable presidential candidate) should be called "Ban" Bloomberg.

Why is outgoing (literally, not figuratively)
Gov. George E. Pataki thinking about a 2008 presidential run (or any year, for that matter)?

Is the October surprise for this election cycle to be the lack of a surprise -- the politically-motivated conduct of Republicans and Democrats having acquired a sense of predictability, even inevitability?
