JUNE
9, 2007 --
LPR
attended its first NASCAR roadshow show, June 4,
in Dover, Delaware.
For two years, LPR has attended NASCAR media events in
Manhattan -- and has watched NASCAR races on
television. Being there makes a difference -- a very
big difference -- and LPR thanks NASCAR and Dover
International Speedway for extending media
courtesies to this website.
(LPR would like to give
special thanks to NASCAR's Laz Benitez and to Gary Camp, speedway
director of public relations).

The Dover race, a 400-mile, one mile per lap,
competition, on a concrete surface was postponed one day
because of rain.
Who knows but that the rain-delay
was somehow intended so that the death of Bill France
Jr., son of NASCAR founder Bill France, Sr., would
take place during a NASCAR race.
One obituary noted, in its lead paragraph, that Bill
France Jr. had turned NASCAR "into a
multibillion-dollar enterprise with a national
presence." LPR is not certain that this explains what
NASCAR is all about.

Near
the end of the race, standing in the infield of the speedway, LPR
saw a car spin out and then disappear from view. LPR
headed in the direction of the car --and still saw no
sign of it. Suddenly, hearing a sputtering engine,
LPR turned back to the infield and saw the vehicle - No. 88, driven
by Ricky Rudd -- making its way home, under its own power.

LPR
concluded that after
crashing into the infield wall, Rudd maneuvered his
damaged machine a full lap around the track to bring
it home.
The Dover race was won by Martin Truex, Jr. gaining
his first NASCAR Nextel Chase victory. Ryan Newman
was second and Carl Edwards third.

A
NASCAR certificate of merit for this race might have gone to
Ricky Rudd. The certificates could culminate in a
season-ending All-Around Driver award -- the Bill
France Jr. and Sr. Trophy, awarded annually to " the
driver who best represents the NASCAR spirit."
