Miles from the Mainstream
D. R. ZUKERMAN, proprietor
The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival

NOVEMBER 13, 2005 --

The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival (NYIIFVF) is back for another week. The festival opened November 10 at Avalon and included the traditional New York Independent Art Festival.

Screenings began November 11 and continue through November 17 at the Village East Cinemas, on Second Avenue and 12th Street, in Manhattan.

The schedule, by LPR's count, has more
than 300 films ranging from films lasting a few minutes to full length features.

As at this festival, in the past, LPR met and photographed some of the directors and actors who appear in these independent films. Directors caught by the LPR camera include Robby Kushner, director of "On Moral Grounds" a documentary about a Holocaust survivor's efforts to obtain restitution and some measure of justice.

LPR attended the November 12 screening of Zhenya Kiperman's "I Will Avenge You, Iago, whose cast includes Larry Pine, Gincarlo Esposito and Carolee Carmello, shown here at the screening
with her husband Greg Edelman, who recently appeared on Broadway in "Wonderful Town." Ms. Carmello was recently in Mamma Mia, on Broadway.

At 2:05 P.M., November 15, the festival will screen a documentary on the next Christo and Jeanne Claude art project,
over the Arkansas River in Colorado.

The documentary is called "On the Way to Over the River," and is directed by Wolfram Hissen and Jorg Daniel Hissen.

Director Jordan Galland's "Smile for the Camera," about an unpleasant and macabre photography cult, screened November 12 includes music by Sean Lennon, who was photographed by
LPR, definitely not emulating the film.
