LPR wasn’t aware that attention was paid, April 12, to the 71st anniversary of the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

David Brooks Strikes Again . . .

From his April 12 New York Times column: “Trump voters don’t seem to realize how unelectable their man is because they hang out with people like themselves.” Anyone see Brooksie hanging out, lately, among us masses?

The Henry F. Potter Neo-Feudalism Trophy . . .

The Henry F. Potter Neo- Feudalism Trophy, honoring the memory of the fictional banker of Frank Capra’s movie “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and given to the individual who exemplifies disdain for the people in the finest tradition of feudalism, is awarded, hereby, to James Traub, for his New York Times piece “Call It What It Is: A Rabble,” with honorable mentions to David Brooks, Michael Gerson and Jennifer Rubin. (Please note that if this trophy existed in would show a peasant tugging at his forelock.)

New York City to House Homeless on Fifth Avenue . . .

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced today that his administration is condemning a Fifth Avenue block opposite the Metropolitan Museum so that the buildings can be converted into SROs (single room occupancy) to house qualified applicants presently homeless. The mayor acknowledged that some preference will be given to undocumented immigrants. He added that he has not ruled out construction of affordable housing on the site of Central Park’s Great Lawn.
