JULY
11, 2007 --
June 25, LPR
went to Shea Stadium with Broadway-ites, including cast members
from Mamma Mia, for a game between the Mets and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Mets won the game in the bottom of the eleventh, 2-1, on a
lead-off, walk-off home run by Shawn Green. (Dare LPR note that
so far, there is no extra charge for extra innings?)
This was LPR's first visit to Shea, as LPR is not much of a National
League fan and had some difficulty that a MLB venue was named for
a politically-connected lawyer who apparently got the park built.
The new Mets' field, alongside Shea (closer to Shea that the new
Yankee ballpark will be to "the House that Ruth Built) is, LPR
hears, to be called Citifield, for Citibank.
Not much inducement
to LPR to return when the new park is ready, with Yankee Stadium
II, for the 2009 season. |
