About the Special Counsel Order

July 5, 2017 --

Robert S. Mueller III was “appointed to serve as Special Counsel for the United States Department of Justice,” pursuant to Order No. 3915-2017, from the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, issued on May 17, 2017, by Rod J. Rosenstein, Acting Attorney General.

This order authorizes the special counsel “to conduct the investigation confirmed by the-FBI Director James B. Comey in testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on March 20, 2017, including:

(i) any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump; and

(ii) any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation….”

The order also authorizes the special counsel “to prosecute federal crimes arising from the investigation of these matters.”

The FBI Investigation of Russian-Trump campaign “coordination” began in July 2016. Isn’t it curious that after ten months the investigation was ongoing?

When will we get a statement from Mr. Mueller why the investigation is still continuing, and, if it keep going on, why further probe in required – and how long will the investigation last. (Mark Helprin, writing in The Wall Street Journal, February 16, 1999 (“The Soldiers of Calais”) noted that President Bill Clinton let China have superconductors, overruling “various agencies,” while he, his party and campaigns took “in a great deal of money from agents of the very same People’s Republic of China.” Has there ever been a hint of Trump-Russia collusion approaching the odor of Clinton’s dealings with “agents of the…People’s Republic of China?”

And when will we there be a probe of the coordination between the Hillary Clinton campaign, intelligence community and the media to subvert the Trump candidacy and, thereafter, the Trump presidency?
