SEPTEMBER
12, 2004 --
LPR
attended, briefly, a vigil at Columbus Circle, and then went
to the Broadway Show League awards party.
The vigil, it should be noted, had nothing to do with the still-uncompleted
reconstruction of Columbus Circle. But perhaps some persons at this vigil,
opposing U.S. troops in Iraq, will take note that the Columbus Circle
renovation is still unfinished.

The BSL gathering
honored show champs The Producers, and organizational champs Nederlander,
Basils (for
BSL trophies) also went to division winners 42nd Street, Beauty and the
Beast, and Nederlander.
The Boy From Oz received the Broadway Cares Basil. Tim McDonough, Sr, --
The Producers, and 30 year league veteran -- was men's MVP. Annie Moll
-- Beauty and the Beast == was women's MVP.
Hairspray got the Basil for Team Spirit and Avenue Q the good sportsmanship
Basil. BSL Commissioner Carlos Martinez received a plaque and Mets tix
and
paraphenalia in appreciation of his outstanding leadership his first season
as commish. (LPR here hopes major league baseball will not take notice
and look to replace Bud Selig with Commissioner
Martinez.)

from BSL.

Great
News!
LPR went back to west 20th Street, at mid-day, September 9, and saw that
the great 20th street pothole has been plated over. A photograph of the
pothole plating is here published.

LPR Recommends
If anyone in New York City has a dog and would like his companion to
join him for lunch or a drink, LPR recommends the Boat Basin Cafe, Hudson
River at 79th Street.
The covered area is below the Henry
Hudson Parkway and there is a terrace that overlooks the river, the 79th
Street marina, and New Jersey, across the way.
LPR has tried the cafe's Ocean Breeze but prefers the Pina Colada. Drinks
are served in plastic cups, and the food is served on paper plates, with
plastic utensils.
There is no charge for the Milkbones and water given to pets.
